oolong tea combines both the freshness of green tea with the complex flavors of black tea. It is known as ‘Chinese restaurant tea’ as it is most commonly served at Chinese restaurants. Oolong tea originated in China and is still primarily grown and processed in China and Taiwan, although its production has spread to a few other countries as well.

We at The Tea Trove source our oolong teas from Nepal and Darjeeling. Castleton and Thurbo Tea Estates are two of the popular tea estates that we source our tea from. The Castleton Darjeeling Oolong tea has a rich amber liquid with the characteristic muscatel flavour of a typical Darjeeling tea. The Nepal Oolong tea is grown in the pristine mountain air of the Himalayas and has a mildly pungent flavour which gradually unfolds to reveal a lovely fruity note with an exceptionally long finish. It combines the flavours of both Darjeeling and oolong teas. Thurbo is a famous name when it comes to Darjeeling Tea. One of the favourites, Thurbo Oolong tea is sweet and fresh and makes a beautiful rounded cup of tea. These are the pure Oolong teas.

We even have a pre-blended Vanilla Oolong tea that combines the freshness of a Darjeeling Oolong tea with the warmth of the vanilla spice. The dark, sugary quality of vanilla pods adds a perfect textural element to an already complex oolong tea.

Oolong tea is great for combating weight and lowering blood pressure, stress, and blood sugar. It also promotes overall better metabolism and gives that extra boost of energy we all need at the end of a long day.
